Our Captains

Skip Stamberger

Captain Skip Stamberger has lived and boated on Cayuga Lake for over 40 years. He and his wife Maura have owned and operated the Silver Strand at Sheldrake Bed & Breakfast for 26 years. As long term hospitality providers and members of the Cayuga Wine Trail, they count local winery owners amongst their best friends. Places to go, things to do, best restaurants; Captain Skip can help you with all your vacation arrangements. When not helping folks experience the Finger Lakes, Skip & Maura had lived aboard their 38' Lagoon Catamaran which they have sailed from the Chesapeake to Guatemala, Belize, Mexico and the Bahamas. Captain Skip has also sailed from the Caribbean right up to his dock at Silver Strand. He has been a licensed USCG Captain since 1995 and is qualified to operate both sail and power vessels from inland waters up to 50 miles at sea. Skip and Maura are also enthusiastic fans of Formula 1 Grand Prix racing and the America's Cup racing series. These pursuits have led them to Spain, New Zealand, Australia, Montreal and Newport, RI.

Dennis Daniels

Dennis Daniels has been a licensed Coast Guard Master since 1984 and has served as a Captain on tour boats in Lake Erie, Oneida Lake, the New York State barge Canal and the Finger Lakes. He also operated his charter fishing boat on Lake Erie for Walleye and served as a delivery captain for large yachts throughout the Great Lakes. Captain Daniels is the former owner of a marine training company that prepared students to qualify for their United States Coast Guard license.

Riley Schutt

Riley Schutt grew up boating on Cayuga Lake with Skip and Maura. He developed a passion for sailing that has taken him all over the US, Caribbean, and Europe. Between 2008 and 2013 Riley worked as a yacht designer in Valencia, Spain, specializing in the fluid dynamics of racing sailboats. He has been a designer for recent Volvo Ocean Race and America's Cup campaigns. Riley races in the International One Design sailboat class and was a member of the 2013 World Championship winning crew. Riley is now a graduate student at Cornell University working towards a PhD in Aerospace Engineering with research focused on the aerodynamics of sailboat sails.

Michael Flood

Michael Flood has been a licensed USCG captain since 2012 having done his coursework through Dennis Daniels company, Sea Tech. Michael has captained tour boats on both Cayuga and Seneca lakes and is a native of the area having grown up in Interlaken, NY. When not on the water, Michael works for the Trumansburg Central School District in the capacity of a high school science teacher in the subjects of physics, astronomy, forensic science, and biology. He also coaches girls basketball and baseball for the district. He and his beautiful companion, Effie, live in Trumansburg and own a quaint cottage on the west side of Cayuga Lake.

Rob Lichak

Captain Rob Lichak is a life-long resident of the Finger Lakes, and growing up in Romulus, NY, he has enjoyed a lifetime of boating on Seneca and Cayuga lakes. Rob spent a 30+ year career in law enforcement doing marine patrol on the Finger Lakes and Lake Ontario before retiring to pursue his passion as a tour boat captain. In July 2015, he received his Near Coastal 50-Ton Master’s license from Sea Tech. He has been captaining Water to Wine tour boats since joining them in 2015. When not on the water Rob enjoys scuba diving (he received his Dive Master certification on Cayuga Lake!), building model airplanes, and watching dirt car races.
